Housing First Belgium was primarily an experiment in social innovation.
It means testing out the practices of Housing First on the ground and seeing how they work and what the effects are.
The necessary ingredients therefore were:
- a timetable (any period of experimentation has a start and a finish)
- financial support
- institutions responsible for practices on the ground
- institutions responsible for overseeing the evaluation process
- a structure to steer and coordinate
The test-phase is now closed, with strong results demonstrating the efficacy and efficiency of the HF practices.
A Federal Unit has been developed in order to support institutions who are doing HF and those who want to start: the Housing First Belgium LAB.
